When you believe you’ve committed a sin that God would never forgive, how do you live with that burden? As a senior in high school, Jaycie Matthews meets Tod, who turns her head and her heart in the wrong direction. This passionate attachment leads to Jaycie’s straying from the values that had guided her happy life to this point.
Her harmful decisions lead to an unintended pregnancy, and then abortion. She didn’t realize until it was too late, that her decision to choose abortion would lead to a life-sapping guilt and sorrow that would haunt her and keep her from loving, and being loved.
With parents who are devoted to God and family, Jaycie can’t bear to have them find out what she did. They would never again look at her as their sweet, wholesome daughter. She is determined to hide this secret from them forever. And what about the God of her childhood faith? Would He condemn her and give up on her because of this horrendous sin?
All Jaycie knows, is that she needs to keep her secret, and keep her distance from her parents and God. But as God brings all things into the light, the day comes when God’s plan for Jaycie doesn’t include keeping secrets. When God reaches Jaycie’s heart and walls come tumbling down, she is astonished to find out that others in her family have hidden secrets from years past that will shake her world.
For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. Mark 4:22
